A short introduction to some of the members of our team!

Amelia
Amelia is a birth doula (DONA certification in process) with experience in postpartum care and whole family support. Her interests include working with adolescent mothers, the LGBTQ+ community and supporting home births. Amelia is also a PhD student at McGill, conducting research on perinatal care for adolescent mothers with child welfare involvement, using art as a research method.
Janet
As a daughter, sister, mother (supported by a doula), community nurse with labour and delivery experience, a Brain Gym educator and a doula, I have come to realize there is one vital contributor to wellness and that is attentive presence, witnessing and interpreting the unheard and unseen and unsaid. When this happens at the ‘Sensitive’ time in a birth giver’s life, lifelong transformations happen.

Sarah
Ever since I was a little girl, I was always fascinated by the magic of pregnancy and birth. Now, as a woman, after many years working in community organizations across the world supporting women and children, as a yogi and pre-natal yoga teacher, as a doula, and as a mother blessed enough to have given birth to 6 amazing children (my greatest teachers!) my feelings around the transformational nature and sacredness of birth have only deepened. I am honoured to share what I have learnt over the years, from all the beautiful parents that I have crossed paths with, through my implication in the Montreal Doula Collective.

What fascinates me most about birth, is the symbolism that accompanies this immense journey. While a new being is opening its eyes and discovering the world for the first time in such a soft yet ferocious manner, the person birthing is invited to dive deep within to reconnect with their inner most profound nature and let themselves be guided into a new version of themselves. I want to witness, support and most of all protect this journey, as a doula.

Doula work allows me to dive into the best things life has to offer: real people, genuine experiences, transformations galore, the entire range of raw and deep human emotions. Vulnerability, indignation, pain, anxiety, fear, disgust, strength, appreciation, elation, acceptance, entrancement and pleasure, all wrapped into the miracle of LIFE itself. I am in complete awe and admiration of birthing. Eternally grateful and humbled by its magnitude, I am honoured to support it and create a safe space for births to unfold in all their glory.
Kimberly
I believe that every birthing person, every baby and every birth is unique and special. My goal is to encourage and empower people to have the birth that they want, whatever their birth plan entails. I have been working as doula since 2015 and enjoy supporting parents-to-be and growing families on this exciting journey! Despite attending births on a regular basis, I remain awestruck every time by the power of birth and of birthgivers.

Lisa
Supporting families in their journey to parenthood has always been my passion. I’ve had the opportunity to look at birth through multiple lenses: doula, mother, student, and researcher. Regardless of where ones’ birth unfolds, I try to ensure it is a positive experience where the birthing person is respected and their efforts are cherished. The goal in mind is always to assist the birthing person and their family to the best of my abilities. I look forward to taking part in this incredible event with the wonderful families that I am blessed to meet through this process.

As a doula since 2016, I have attended many births with MDC. This is often an amazing chance for collaboration. I seek to support a birthing person in their pregnancy so that they can perceive and embody empowering choices. My goal is to hold a safe space so that you can birth as your most authentic self. In parallel to my work with the collective, I am developing a strong private practice in the birth arts.
